Alan Yip, an international renown product designer, graduated with Bachelor of Arts in industrial design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1987. He worked for Frog Design Inc. in California, USA and Philips Design Centre in Eindhoven, Holland. Finding it a challenge to contribute to product design of the HK and China, Alan found Yip Design Ltd. in 1990. Throughout these years, over 1000 products, which cover a wide range of categories has been designed and launched, quite a number of them had hit the million-piece sales record. International clients include: Philips, Emerson, RCA, VS Sassoon, Grundig, One for All, Nintendo, Hitachi, Akai, Sansui, Daewoo, Hyundai, Toma, Towngas, Simpa, GPAudio, Li Ning, LifePower, VAS, Casonic. He also owns over 40 international design and invention patents. A product line has been launched under his brand “ ALANYIP “ with worldwide patents. His designs were invited to be exhibited in Holland, England, Japan, Korea and China and have been presented in many museums, books and medias worldwide.

He was awarded 2008 IF Design Award, 2008 Outstanding Chinese Artist Award, 2007 & 2008 China Red Star Design Awards, 2007 HKSAR Chief Executive’s Commendation for Community Service, 2007 Hong Kong Award for Industry, 2004 HK Outstanding Young Persons, 2005 Ten Outstanding Designers Award and a member of International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (USA). He also served the community as the Chairman of the HK Designers Association, Committee on Museums of Leisure and Cultural Services Bureau HKSAR, Advisory Board of Innovation and Technology Commissions HKSAR, HK Convention Ambassador of HK Tourism Board, Committee Member of HK Intellectual Properties Society and Member of Curriculum Development Committee of HK Examinations and Assessment Authority. His works had formed an international landmark for Hong Kong product design.
